-in the end o in the finish?-
- -in the end o in the finish?-
- Nota d'uso
La parola fine può essere tradotta in diversi modi, ma il sostantivo “finish”, in questa accezione viene usato solo nell'espressione: from start to finish, dall'inizio alla fine. L'espressione avverbiale alla fine, invece, corrisponde a “in the end”: Alla fine decisero di non venire, in the end they decided not to come (non in the finish they decided not to come). Quando si vuole indicare la fine di qualcosa, si usa la locuzione “at the end”: alla fine di dicembre, at the end of December; alla fine della strada, at the end of the street.
